Commendations go out to the Cherokee County School Board for realizing education dollars can be spent on things more important than an expensive piece of paper with no intrinsic value. The board is considering dropping its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, observing neither state statutes nor college admissions criteria could care less about it.
Read full article » No Comments »At tonight’s meeting of the Buncombe County Commissioners, citizen Don Yelton took the microphone during public comment. He differentiated himself from other speakers by saying he was not running for a commission seat. He further added commentary on the lame state of government discussions during political season. Elected representatives are out in the community discussing women’s issues (Yelton didn’t say so, but implicit in that kind of politicking is the belief that women are the weaker sex both physically and mentally, and they look for a handsome, strong politician to woo their votes.), and meeting agendas are devoid of controversial content.
While we’re on the subject, the Citizen-Times reports the president is campaigning on a plank of being in love with Asheville. The bashful guy must lead a sheltered life, as he reportedly states:
