Residents of an itty-bitty subdivision in Henderson County opposed the expenditure of $850,000 in CDBG funds for projects designed to improve their neighborhood. They say there is no good reason to widen the road and add sidewalks; especially, if it means they must give up much of their yards. A bad reason would be that they are being prepped for annexation by Fletcher. The county applied for funds back in 2008, but just now received them. Planners say the citizens changed their minds while the money was working its way through the red tape. The commissioners agreed to skip the road improvements. Two houses will still be replaced and two others renovated with a portion of the funds.
