Two celebrations of cultural arts occurred in downtown Asheville today. Fiesta Latina featured music, food, and a lot of politically-correct booths. One recruited gay Latinas. Opportunities to enhance dependency, like registrations for social services and credit, abounded – but that’s everywhere these days. A couple major companies that have a reputation for rejecting applications were also there.
Later in the afternoon, Oktoberfest went down. Somebody spilled stenchy beer for half a block, and then around the corner for a full block. The trail led to a guy wrestling with a girl and another trying to coax his girl to stand up. My mind drifted to what might happen later in the evening, and then I had an epiphany: Events like this are good for tourism because most people do not want to disrespect their hometowns this way.
