PETA sued, and the courts ruled Clay Logan could no longer ring in the New Year with Brasstown’s traditional Possum Drop. For a change, government opted not to embrace, celebrate, and all that jazz a pro-tourist event. Logan shall comply with PETA’s wishes that he not drop a live animal, but he is not divulging the punchline. There is speculation he could drop a dead possum, either roadkill or a victim of taxidermy. He may even drop a legislator.
