BID Farewell

So, please don’t forget the City of Asheville will be collecting comments about the ambassador program and composition of the board of directors for what it wants everybody to assume is a done-deal of a Business Improvement District. The focus is presumably based on public input garnered from the last city council public hearing. As I recall, the concerns of interest came from hipsters and not so much from downtown business people who were trying to produce and trade without being taxed to death by an added layer of bureaucracy. Just from talking to folks, I don’t believe anybody is concerned about term lengths, but it is somewhat irksome that those who advocated for the Downtown Master Plan, which advocated for the BID, are sort of seated on its board of directors via an un-democratic process. In sum, one gets the impression the city is allowing detractors to trim a hair here and there for buy-in before they get steamrolled.

If you wouldn't say it to a co-worker in front of your boss, it probably is not civil and respectful. We will delete any comment that fails this test and issue a warning to the poster.
