For the past year or so, Linamar has constantly been in the headlines for getting government money. It already got the City of Asheville to sign a contract for $2 million in tax breaks. Buncombe County and the State of North Carolina have also contributed. Now, it’s time to ask for $1 million in cash. The award will only cost the city $200,000 this year, which by at least one loose estimate, could translate into a half-percent pay raise for municipal employees.
