“Asheville Greenway Users Encounter Chains,” reads the headline in the local daily. The owner of a parcel between two plots of city land has put up signs and barricades essentially telling people to stay off his property. The owner is trying to sell it, but not for the tokens the city and green-minded feudalists are willing to give. Some hikers are ignoring the no-trespassing signs, others are being obedient and walking in the road, and that is such a terrible safety hazard. We could be at peace if the owner would only wake up and realize it is the People’s property and he needs to buy more land to give to the Wanting We.
