The local daily has the headline “Clinton: Obama Showing Way to More Modern Economy.” Unfortunately, I don’t believe that means the president is showing Asheville’s Trustafarians that technology has brought us health and comfort, and they need no longer emulate cultures that pierce and tattoo, neglect to bathe, while away the hours beating drums and dancing, and have life expectancies of 46 years. Though it be green to embrace ebola viruses and parasitic worms as co-equal sojourners on Mother Earth, people do have the option of aspiring to more.
